I turned WeChat videos into notes I can actually use

THE QUESTION

I kept saving WeChat videos and never went back to them. For YouTube there are plenty of tools that grab the transcript for you. For WeChat there was nothing, so the ideas stayed locked in video.

THE APPROACH

A small pipeline: the video becomes a transcript, the transcript becomes a summary, and everything lands in Obsidian as one Markdown note.

SO WHAT

The tool itself is tiny. The change is that ideas I saved actually come back to me now.

THE PIPELINE

  1. 01Saved WeChat video
  2. 02Audio
  3. 03Transcript and summary
  4. 04Me, deciding what matters
  5. 05One note in Obsidian

THE WORKFLOW

A hand-drawn workflow from a saved WeChat video through audio, transcript and summary to human review and an Obsidian note.

WHO DOES WHAT

THE MACHINE

Extracts the transcript. Writes the summary. Produces the note.

ME

Choose what's worth processing. Check what's accurate. Decide what happens next.

The machine makes it readable. I decide whether it matters.

WHAT CAME OUT OF IT

The workflow runs. Notes land in Obsidian and I actually go back to them. Whether it changes how I learn still needs time.

Mac only. Depends on a third-party download service and the MiMo API. Some outputs still need manual checking.
